Managing Certificates

IBM webMethods Managed File Transfer employs SSL certificates to ensure secure communication with other servers.

Adding Certificates

Add and view the certificates that are used in a single view using IBM webMethods Managed File Transfer.

To add a certificate

  1. Go to Certificates and click   .

  2. In the Add certificate dialog box, specify the following details:

    Field Action/Description
    Certificate alias Type the certificate alias associated with IBM webMethods Managed File Transfer.
    Certificate usage Click Certificate usage to check if the certificate is used in any existing IBM webMethods Managed File Transfer asset.
    Note:
    • The button remains in the disabled state until you add and save a certificate.
    • Default certificates do not show any usage. However, they can be referenced in multiple Managed File Transfer assets explicitly.
    Description Type a suitable description for the certificate you choose.
    The maximum limit is 1024 characters.
    Certificate type Select one of the following supported certificates by IBM webMethods Managed File Transfer:
    • Keystore. A certificate that is stored in a secure storage location meant for cryptographic keys, certificates, and other sensitive information.
    • Truststore. A certificate that is used to establish trust between entities in a secure communication environment.
    • PGP Public key. A public encryption key used for encrypting messages. This key is available to others.
    • PGP Private key. A private encryption key used for decrypting the encrypted messages.
    • SSH Private key. The user utilizes SSH keys for authentication and retains the private key.
    • SSH Public key. The user sends a public key to the server to authenticate the digital signature.
    Keystore password Type the password that protects the Keystore. This password is required to access the certificate in the Keystore file for IBM webMethods Managed File Transfer.
    Truststore password Type the password that protects the Truststore. This password is required to access the certificate in the Truststore file for IBM webMethods Managed File Transfer.
    Key password Type the password associated with the certificate.
    Upload Certificate Copy the certificate from a location by either performing a drag-and-drop action or browsing to a particular location.
  3. Click Add to save the changes.
