API Gateway, External Elasticsearch, and External Kibana Compatibility Matrix
As stated earlier, API Gateway uses external Elasticsearch as its primary data storage. The compatible external Elasticsearch versions for the API Gateway versions depend on the API Gateway data type.
API Gateway data can be broadly classified into following four types:
*Core data. This type includes APIs, Applications, Policies, Plans, Packages, Administration Settings, Security Configurations (Keystores/Trustores) and Tokens (OAuth/API Keys).
*Transaction data. This type includes the runtime transactions events and metrics data.
*Application logs
*Audit logs
Note:
The support for API Data Store (embedded Elasticsearch) is deprecated and will be removed in future releases. To address security vulnerabilities and simplify upgrades, configuring an external Elasticsearch is now the only supported approach.
The table below lists the external Elasticsearch versions and the corresponding external Kibana versions that support the storage of core data and transaction data of the available API Gateway versions:

Ensure that you do not use the Java 17 that is inbuilt with the external Elasticsearch for any other purpose.
